Our Classes
- Education and Training: The local community and learning center offers a range of adult education and training programs designed to empower individuals with practical skills and knowledge for everyday life. Classes include English language instruction to improve communication and literacy, Citizenship preparation courses to help residents navigate the naturalization process, and health education that promotes wellness and informed healthcare decisions. Additionally, financial literacy classes teach budgeting, saving, and managing credit, while computer classes provide essential digital skills for personal and professional use. These programs are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community, fostering personal growth, confidence, and greater opportunities.
- Art and Culture: The community and learning center also offers Arts & Culture programs that celebrate creativity, self-expression, and cultural diversity. - African History: The community and learning center offers African History classes*that provide a rich and comprehensive exploration of the continent’s diverse cultures, civilizations, and contributions to the world. These classes cover key historical periods—from ancient kingdoms and empires like Mali, Nubia, and Great Zimbabwe to the impact of colonialism, the struggle for independence, and modern-day developments. Participants gain a deeper understanding of African heritage, influential leaders, cultural traditions, and the global significance of African history. - Community Technology & Empowerment: The community and learning center also offers Community Technology & Empowerment programs designed to bridge the digital divide and promote access to essential tech tools and knowledge. These classes focus on building digital literacy, teaching participants how to confidently use computers, mobile devices, and internet-based tools for everyday tasks such as job searching, online communication, and accessing community resources. The program also explores topics like digital privacy, online safety, and the role of technology in civic engagement.
