Computer Training Programs
ACLC realizes that in order for our communities to better contribute to the U.S. economy, we must improve our understanding of the computer in our fast-paced digital world. By bridging the digital divide, we are able to ensure digital access to all seniors, youth and women granting them access to learning, connectivity, engaging and thriving in the digital world.

Summer Programs
Just because the annual school year is over that doesn’t mean learning has to come to a halt. According to the Measures of Academic Progress tests, On average, children lose about a month of reading and math skills during their summer vacation. That’s why ACLC offers Summer programs. To keep the minds of our little ones sharp!

Our Family Education Program provides ESL training which will help improve the English skills of our parents to grant them a better chance at higher employment and to help them navigate and have a better understanding of the country.

Adult language aid
Language help/aid for adults in need of it. We have bilingual teachers and staff always ready when in need. We teach a wide variety of languages including English as a second language, Arabic, Swahili, French, Nuer, Somali, Shona, Dholuo etc.

Outreach Programs
Our Outreach Programs Focus on our community as a whole. We focus on building a trusting relationship with parents in order to be able to provide better services for their children. We provide home and school visits while also maintaining a strong connection with their teachers. We also strive to build a stronger relationship with other organizations so that we may build strong partnerships which will result in the strengthening and empowerment of our families.

Police – Youth Relationships
Communities of color have a long-standing history of inequitable treatment by the police in the U.S. In 2015 44% of the youth killed by police were African-American or Hispanic. Unfortunately, this disparity is growing but ACLC is here to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and communities of color.

Senior Programs
ACLC is welcoming all people 50 and over to come in for our senior programs. Our senior program includes activities such as Arts & Crafts, Music, Games, Nutritional Classes, Fellowship, Conversation and much more. We also focus on seniors with language barriers, lack of transportation and low income.

African Film Night
ACLC is dedicated to enriching our community. On the first Friday of every month ACLC welcomes all participating community members to join us to watch an African inspired/produced film and conversation.

In order to strive as a community, we must appreciate the impact that culture has on our society. We do this by enhancing our knowledge of culture and sharing our rich culture through our cultural programs.
Youth

Girls Empowerment
African girls in the U.S.A. face risk and vulnerabilities that challenge their healthy development into young women. Our Girl’s Empowerment Program employs an activity-based solution that uses education, social well-being and mentorship to promote healthy and responsible behavior amongst the African youth. Our African youth are facing problems such as Bullying, Language Barriers, Peer Pressure, Cultural Adaptivity, Pressure, Suicidal Thoughts.

The African Community and Learning Center’s Health Initiative is to support and improve the health of Africans living in Nebraska by promoting access to quality, culturally competent health and social services through education, research and community partnerships.

Covid-19 Impact
Here at ACLC we pride ourselves in health and safety. The Covid-19 pandemic will forever be remembered as a sorrow and dreadful time in life. It was evidently a problem that affected everyone and every business financially and socially. In response to this we have created services and programs to adapt to the forever-changing world and allowing our community to work and learn through the pandemic.
